The Assembliles of God fellowship was formed as a result of a widespread revival at the beginning of the 20th century. Sensing a neeed for organization, church leaders held the first Generl Council of the A/G in April of 1914. From this, a "Cooperative Fellowship" was born, enabling churches to function independently, yet be united for the purposes of Doctrine, Accountability, Missionary Outreach, and Bible Education. Assemblies of God churches today number 315 in New York State, 12,298 in the United Sates, and 268,193 in 200 countries around the world! The Asssemblies of God is the largest Pentecostal Fellowship in the world with 55 million adherents worldwide.
Hampton Bays Assembly of God was founded in 1980 by Rev. Magne Norval and a handful of believers who met in homes. The church incorporated in 1981 as a Home Mission's church of the New York District of the Assemblies of God. In 1981 use of the historic Canoe Place Chapel became available. This brought growth and stability. In 1983 Rev. Norval retired and Rev. Evan Iacoboni came to serve as Pastor.
The church continued to developed as the Hand-Aldrich American Legion Hall became available for Sunday services. In 1987 a parsonage was purchased. In 1989 Rev. Iacoboni left for ministry in Lewiston, N.Y., and Rev. Richard Earl came to serve as Pastor. With a strong core of believers, the Lord added many souls to the church. In 1992 the church upgraded to A/G General Council Affiliation.
In 1994, the church purchased 2.5 Acres at 109 Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays. The existing home was remoldeled into the present church sanctuary and dedicated in 1995. In 1998 Rev. Earl left for ministry in Shamokin PA., and Rev. Eric Rey, the present Pastor, came to serve. The church has since improved and remoldeled it's facilities and paid off the property mortgage in full. Plans are now underway to build a larger church sanctuary. The church continues to mature and grow, as it reaches out to the Hampton Bays community and the world, following the Lord's Great Commission to, "Preach the Gospel To All Creation."
What We Believe
The Bible is Inspired- It is the Only Inspired, Infallible and Authoritative written Word of God.
There is One True God- Eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Lord Jesus Christ is Fully God- God the Son who became human by being born of a virgin and conceived by the Holy Spirit. He lived a perfect and sinless life, died on the cross for mankind's sin, rose from the dead, ascended back to heaven, is exalted at God the Father's right hand, and is coming again.
In the Fall of Mankind- Mankind was created in the image of God, but broke his relationship with the Creator,introducing death and suffering to all.
In the Salvation of Mankind- The only hope for present peace and eternal Salvation for mankind is by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ.
In Two Ordinances- Water Baptism by Immersion, and the Lord's supper.
In the Baptism In the Holy Spirit- With the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues for all who desire and ask.
In the Mission of the Church- Three-fold mission: To evangelize the world; To worship God; and To make disciples.
In a God-Appointed and Called Ministry- To equip the church to fulfill its Mission: Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher.
In Divine Healing- Healing from sickness is provided through Christ's atoning death on the cross and is available to all.
In the Blessed Hope of the Church- The Pre-millennial, Pre-tribulation, Rapture (catching away) of the Church and resurrection of the dead in Christ.
In The Millennial Reign of Christ- When Christ will return visibly to reign on the earth for 1000 years.
In A Final Judgement- of all who lived. Eternal Heaven or Hell.
